Washington County Veterans Services is the county veterans service office every Minnesota county must have under section 197.60; see the Minnesota entry on county veterans service officers. What it does. "Washington County Veterans Services provides guidance and assistance to veterans, their dependents, and survivors in applying for local, state and federal veterans benefits." Its list: "Comprehensive benefits counseling. Claims preparation and submission. Claims follow-up to ensure final decisions. Initiation and development of appeals when appropriate. Hours 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday except federal holidays, at the Stillwater, Cottage Grove, Forest Lake and Woodbury offices. "One document that will be needed is a DD Form 214"; the office will help request a lost one. What it did. The veterans service supervisor told the County Board on November 18, 2025 that the office had handled 4,256 phone calls, 4,121 e-mails and 860 office visits and submitted 827 federal claims that year, and that VA paid county veterans and survivors $83,812,000 in 2024.
