Washington County's prosecutor runs its own programme: "The Washington County Attorney's Office operates a Veterans Program to handle certain presumptive probation cases in which the defendant is a veteran struggling with the effects of his or her service in a hostile area." How it works. "The Veterans Program is built upon a unique partnership between the criminal justice system, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and local treatment providers. These partners structure treatment and support intervention with the authority and personal involvement of the prosecuting authority." It "strives to identify veterans, offer them assistance, assess their needs, and help them solve their problems." Apply. The office posts an application for the programme.
