Washington Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Washington’s veterans page prints the additional veterans exemption at income of $46,300 single or $56,500 married - the state’s own 12-81g limits - and posts the 12-81(83) and active-duty motor vehicle applications.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Washington.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s veterans page prints the additional veterans exemption: a veteran receiving an exemption may be eligible for an additional one at income of $46,300 single or $56,500 married, on application February 1 through October 1. Those are the state’s limits - 12-81g allows a town none of its own - the amounts OPM sets each year under 12-81l, printed here for the 2026 grand list. The page also posts the P and T Veteran 100% Service-Connected Disability Rated application, which it says is filed annually and is due no later than January 1, and the Active Duty Military Motor Vehicle Exemption application, applied for each year. The base wartime exemption is $1,000 of assessed value under 12-81(19); the exemption of 12-81(83) is the fractional dwelling share P.A. 24-46 added for a veteran the Department of Veterans Affairs has determined permanently and totally disabled on a 100 percent service-connected rating. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Washington as offering no municipal option, and no Washington code was found on a readable host; ask the assessor.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
