The record, in the Board's agendas, packets and minutes posted for October 1, 2025 to November 4, 2026: - November 5, 2025: the Veterans Service Office's "County Sign Replacement Proposal". A service officer handed out the office's redesigned challenge coins ("our motto, no veteran left behind") and proposed that ODOT's replacement "Welcome to Wasco County" signs read "Welcome to Wasco County, we honor veterans", at "$3.700" after ODOT reused materials. Paying from the office's own budget would have meant "no more training for us"; staff said "it can be taken out of special projects fund". "Commissioner Justesen moved to approve funding to the Wasco County Veterans Service County Sign Replacement in the amount of $3,700. Vice Chair Brady seconded the motion, which passed unanimously." - March 10, 2026 (Dufur town hall): a commissioner reported that the Mid-Columbia Housing Authority's redevelopment of 70 Section 8 units on Chenoweth Loop Road in The Dalles "features a dedicated service model, including 17 units reserved for veterans and a ground floor designed to provide integrated veteran, youth, mental health, and substance use disorder services." - April 22, 2026 (special session): "the Board consulted with the County Veterans Office to gather their perspective. It was reported that the Veterans Office is highly supportive of the designation, citing the deep historical connection to the Vietnam War"; the Board proclaimed April 30 Vietnamese-American Remembrance Day, unanimously. The year's finance reports note that the personnel line of the Administration fund is the Veterans Services Office's. No veteran benefit was adopted, narrowed or repealed. The August 19, 2026 packet is a scan without a text layer and was not read, though that meeting's minutes were, in the next packet; the November 4, 2026 meeting is posted as an agenda and packet only.
