Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Recording. The Warren County Recorder records a DD-214 or NGB-22 and gives duplicate copies; recording is free under Revised Code 317.24 (see the Ohio entry on county recorders). For a lost DD-214 it sends veterans to the Veterans Services office, which requests it from the National Archives free and has it mailed to the veteran. The ID card. A veteran who has filed the discharge with the Recorder and shows a valid photo ID gets a veteran ID card at no cost, for proof of status and veteran discounts. The recorded discharge counts as the second form of identification 317.241 asks for. The page sets no discharge test; the statute bars the card only for a dishonorable discharge. Honor Rewards. The Recorder also enrols veterans whose DD-214 is recorded there in Honor Rewards, a discount programme run through land records offices, and issues a card honoured by participating Warren County businesses, which set their own discounts.
