Warren Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Warren’s Exemption Guides and Forms page posts the Commonwealth’s FY2027 Form 96-4 beside the Department of Revenue’s guide, with no amount of the town’s own, so this entry gives the statute’s; its Veteran’s Agent is Jeanne Tatro, whom the EOVS directory’s row and the town’s May 2026 parade flyer still name Michelle Durkee.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Warren.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Warren grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Board of Assessors seats Debra Hardy ([email protected]), Jack Fenney and Christian Wood, with the assistant assessor’s position vacant and Jacqueline Kingsbury the departmental assistant (413-436-5701, extension 109), at the Charles E. Shepard Municipal Building, 48 High Street (P.O. Box 604, fax 413-436-9754), hours Monday to Thursday 9 am to 1 pm. The department’s Exemption Guides and Forms page posts the town’s Veterans Exemption Application FY27 - the Commonwealth’s State Tax Form 96-4, Warren pre-printed - beside the Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Exemption Guide for veterans, and no amount of the town’s own and no acceptance of clause 22I or 22J appears on the site, so the figures here are the statute’s. The town’s Veteran’s Services page names Jeanne Tatro the Veteran’s Agent ([email protected], 413-436-5701, extension 103, P.O. Box 609), office hours every other Thursday 9 am to 2 pm beginning October 8, 2026 - the agent the town’s May 2026 Memorial Day parade flyer named as Michelle Durkee at the same address and email, the officer the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 Warren row lists too. The page describes the accredited agent’s federal claims work and the state’s chapter 115 benefits, and the town’s veterans’ agent position description charges the office with processing "Chapter 115 benefit applications and payments", filing VA claims, and organizing the Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day functions and the flags on veterans’ graves each Memorial Day weekend. The 2026 parade marched in Warren and West Warren on May 23 from St. Paul’s Cemetery. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Warren Veteran’s Services: Jeanne Tatro, Veteran’s Agent. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
