Ware Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Ware’s assessors’ Document Center posts the Commonwealth’s generic Clause 22 brochure and the state’s Form 96-4 with no amount of the town’s own, so this entry gives the statute’s.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Ware.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Ware grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Board of Assessors’ page names Gerald F. Fountain Jr the chairman, James Niquette and Michael Vadnais the members, at 126 Main Street, Suite G (413-967-9648, extension 179), where Kate Winkler is the Principal Assessor and Christina Benson the Administrative Assessor. The office’s Exemptions page posts a Document Center of brochures and applications whose Clause 22 items are the Commonwealth’s own - the generic veterans’ brochure on mass.gov and the state’s Form 96-4 - with no amount of the town’s own on any page, so the figures here are the statute’s; no acceptance of clause 22I or 22J was found on the town’s site. The Veteran’s Agent page names Mark A. Avis the Veteran’s Agent at 126 Main Street (413-967-9648, extension 115, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 to noon), where the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 row lists Mark Avis at the same address (413-535-9235, [email protected]). The page describes the agent’s duty to advise and assist resident veterans and their dependents with federal and state benefits and to disburse the state’s chapter 115 program of financial and medical benefits. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Ware Veteran’s Agent: Mark A. Avis, Veteran’s Agent. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
