Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Code § 12-2, adopted as Ord. No. 157 on July 2, 1985 and amended by Ord. No. 205 on September 20, 1994 and Ord. No. 247 on January 20, 2004, entitles a veteran or active military duty member, or the widow or widower of a veteran as defined by C.G.S. 12-81(22), to a $10,000 reduction in the assessment of real or personal property including motor vehicles, for income within the limits of the OPM circuit-breaker program as 12-81f allows. It took effect with the October 1, 2004 grand list. Applications are due October 1 with proof of income for the prior calendar year, and refile biennially. Code § 12-1, adopted as Ord. No. 145 on March 1, 1983 under C.G.S. 12-81(21), fully exempts the dwelling house and its lot of a veteran who received financial assistance for specially adapted housing under section 801 of Title 38 of the United States Code and applied it to the acquisition, and the same housing owned by the unremarried surviving spouse. The assessor’s page lists veteran exemptions among the programs it administers and prints no amounts, so this entry rests on the code. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Vernon as offering the 12-81f wartime option at $10,000 with the state limits, the specially adapted house option and the 12-81h vehicle option.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
