Van Zandt County: Free Shuttle to the Dallas VA Medical Center

Van Zandt County's veterans page lists a free shuttle for veterans from the county to the Dallas VA Medical Center, picking up at designated veteran parking on the east side of Duke's Travel Plaza, I-20 and Texas Highway 64; call 903-583-6496 to schedule a ride.

Van Zandt County's Veterans Services page: "Free Veteran shuttle service from Van Zandt County to the Dallas VA Medical Center for Veterans needing transportation. Contact Jason Sluder at 903-583-6496 to schedule a ride. The pick-up/drop off site with designated Veteran parking spots is on the east side of Duke's Travel Plaza at IH-20 and TX Hwy 64." A second, older notice on the same page gives a different contact "with Veteran Affairs" at the same number. What it is. The page does not say who runs the shuttle beyond the older notice's "with Veteran Affairs", and names no schedule, fare or eligibility beyond being a veteran who needs a ride to the Dallas VA Medical Center (the VA North Texas Health Care System's main hospital). Call the number a few days ahead to book, and ask the county's Veterans Service Officer (903-567-7985) if the line does not answer.
