Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Virginia Veteran and Family Support is a Department of Veterans Services program. It coordinates behavioral health, rehabilitation, and community resources with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services. DVS says it serves Virginia-resident veterans of any era regardless of discharge status, Virginia National Guard members, reservists, transitioning service members, and family members and caregivers. There is no disability-rating floor. The work is assessment and linkage to medical, behavioral health, financial, transportation, housing, employment, and education resources, plus outreach to military-connected people in the criminal justice system, and individual and group peer support. It is not a cash benefit and it is not VA health care. A Fairfax veteran uses this state program. It does not replace the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board or VA medical care.
