Free Virginia State Parks passport for a veteran with a 100% service-connected disability. It covers parking, admission, boat launch, and horse-trailer parking, plus discounts on camping and some rentals.
Also called: state parks, park pass, camping discount, DCR, 100% disabled.
The Department of Conservation and Recreation issues a Veteran Disability Passport at no charge to a veteran with a service-connected disability rating of 100%. The application needs VA paperwork showing that rating, and it goes to [email protected] with the pass application.
DCR says the pass covers vehicle parking and admission for the pass holder, and for a person needed to assist the pass holder, at parks and facilities that charge per person. It also covers boat launch and horse-trailer parking. It includes a 50% discount on camping, swimming, shelters, equipment rentals the park operates, and two or more nights in a standard yurt. One night in a standard yurt is 25% off.
The pass is the pass holder, not a car full of other guests. A separate free Disability Passport covers parking, and admission for the holder and an assistant, for a person who sends a Social Security or VA disability letter. That pass is not the 100% veteran pass, and it does not include the camping discount or the launch coverage. A government disabled plate or placard already covers admission for the holder at many parks. Parking fees for veterans are waived on November 11.
The 100% figure on the DCR page is a service-connected rating of 100%. The page does not add a permanent-and-total test.
