Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

What it pays. The Veterans Services page links the "County of Uvalde, Veteran's Service Officer, Veterans Transportation Cost Reimbursement Form." The veteran gives a name and phone number, mailing address and the name and location of the medical facility, and the physician's office signs and dates the appointment; the officer, Everardo (Lalo) Zamora, reviews it and approves a "$35.00" reimbursement against a county purchase order. The money. The budget's Veterans Department carries the line "Veteran Rate $35" at $35,000 for 2026-2027, unchanged; the line paid out $36,103.00 and $34,625.00 in the budget's 2023 and 2024 actual columns and $30,220.00 in its 2025 column, roughly a thousand trips a year. How to use it. Take the form to the appointment, have the doctor's office sign it, and bring or send it to the Veterans Services office, 216 W. Main Street, Uvalde (830-278-4491). The form and page do not say whether the trip must be to a VA facility, how often a veteran may claim, or whether a dependent qualifies; ask the officer.
