Trumbull County Auditor: Disabled Veteran Homestead Exemption
The Trumbull County Auditor takes the State's disabled veteran homestead application, DTE 105I, with the DD-214 and award letter, but its page still gives the 2025 figure of $58,000 where tax year 2026 real property is $59,400, and it leaves out the individual unemployability route the statute gives.
Also called: homestead, property tax, DTE 105I, county auditor, Martha Yoder, unemployability, 323.152.
The exemption is the State's, under Revised Code 323.152(A)(2); see the Ohio entry. File DTE 105I, with the DD-214 and the VA award letter, with the Trumbull County Auditor, Martha C. Yoder, second floor of the Administration Building, 160 High Street NW, Warren (330-675-2420), by December 31. There is no income cap for the disabled veteran exemption, as the Auditor's page says.
Where the page is out of date. It tells disabled veterans they "may receive an exemption up to $58,000". That was the tax year 2025 figure; the reduction is indexed to inflation, and for tax year 2026 real property, the year now being filed, the Department of Taxation's figure is $59,400, so the credit is a little larger than the page says. The page also leaves out section 323.151(F), which counts a veteran paid at the 100 per cent rate for individual unemployability; a veteran paid at the 100 per cent rate for unemployability whose schedular rating is lower qualifies and should file DTE 105I with the unemployability decision. The income caps the page lists, $41,000 for a current application and $40,000 for a late one, govern the senior and disability homestead under 323.151, not the veteran exemption. A denial can be appealed to the Board of Revision on DTE 106B.
