Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The relief is the State's, under Tennessee Code 67-5-701 to 67-5-705; the Tennessee entries carry its eligibility, amounts and deadlines. The Trustee's page: "State of Tennessee Tax Relief is available for qualified: Elderly, Disabled, Disabled Veteran and Widow(er) of Disabled Veteran homeowners." What the county adds. The Trustee's FAQ: "Tipton County also provides reimbursement for property taxes. The county benefit is given only to those approved for State Tax Relief. If there is a balance remaining after the State Tax Relief benefit has been applied, the county will pay up to $50.00 for the 2026 tax year." So a disabled veteran or widow(er) the State approves gets the State's payment and then up to $50 of whatever county tax remains; the same supplement goes to the county's elderly and disabled applicants. The FAQ's answer that there are "No Exemptions" is right: Tennessee gives relief as a payment, not an exemption. What to bring. The disabled veteran checklist: sign an F-16 (the State's disabled veteran application), personal ID, and for a mobile home the title, bill of sale or an affidavit of affixation. The widow(er) checklist: sign an F-16S, personal ID, the mobile home papers, and the death certificate. The income rules on the page ("It must be 2025 income!") are for the elderly and disabled programmes; the disabled veteran relief has no income test. Where. Trustee Kristie Glass Maxwell, Tipton County Courthouse, Room 203, 1 Pleasant Avenue, Covington, TN 38019 (mail to P.O. Box 487); 901-476-0211. During tax season, from the first Wednesday in October to February 24, 2027, a Munford office at 1397 Munford Avenue is also open on Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed noon to 1, and on November 11 and December 23).

Thresholds

Thresholds for Tipton County Trustee: State Tax Relief for Disabled Veterans, with a County Supplement
GateRule
Permanent and total, as VA determines itThe county supplement goes only to a disabled veteran or widow(er) the State approves for its relief. The rating route in 67-5-704(b)(3) asks for service-connected permanent and total disability as determined by VA, which a veteran paid at the total rate through unemployability that VA has found permanent also holds. It is recorded rather than enforced because the paraplegia, blindness and loss-of-limbs route and the prisoner of war route need no rating at all.
Or a named loss, at any ratingParaplegia or permanent paralysis of both legs and the lower body, legal blindness, or loss or loss of use of two or more limbs from a service-connected cause qualifies whatever the combined rating, as does one hundred percent permanent total disability from having been a prisoner of war. The state entry on disabled veteran property tax relief sets out the routes.
