What the office does. The county's Veterans Affairs page: "This office assists Tioga County veterans and their families in applying for local, state, and federal veteran's programs. Each county in Pennsylvania is required to provide these services to their residents." It links the PA Directory of County Veteran's Affairs Directors for residents of other counties, the State and federal programme pages, and the county's two applications.
The county's own burial benefit. The "Application for Burial Benefit ($150.00) for a Deceased Veteran OR a Deceased Spouse of a Veteran" asks the claimant to mail the completed application "along with a Death Certificate and Military Discharge Documentation" to the office, or fax 570-723-8403, or e-mail [email protected]; the affidavit asks the veteran's branch, type of discharge, rank, serial number, induction and discharge dates, residence at death and the grave's cemetery location. This is the county's own allowance beside the State's; see the Pennsylvania entries on the burial table.
Care of graves. The "Application for Care of Veterans Graves" is the caretaker's annual bill - "for the sum of $______ for services rendered in caring for ______ Veterans' graves at $3.50 per grave for the year of ______ in ______ Cemetery" - the county's working of 16 Pa.C.S. 155's decoration and maintenance duties.
