Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s exemptions page offers an “Exemption Spreadsheet” whose columns give the benefit, statute and eligibility for each program. For regular veterans it prints $6,000 off assessment for service of 90 days or more during a defined period of war, on the DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk by September 30; for disabled and severely disabled veterans, $12,000 to $21,000 off assessment with a VA rating of 10 to 100 percent, on the rating award letter; for the state additional low-income veterans’ exemption of 12-81g, $24,000 to $42,000 off assessment at income of $40,300 single and $49,100 married, counting all income except VA disability and pension payments, filed by October 1. Those income limits are the 2023 grand list’s; the 2026 grand list’s are $46,300 and $56,500. The sheet’s active military column exempts one motor vehicle fully for a Connecticut resident currently active, and a final column headed “12-81(c) / Local Option” fully exempts specialty adapted vehicles. The page itself carries a “Veteran’s Exemption 100% P&T” heading with no further text. Thomaston answered OLR’s 2023 survey recording no municipal option. The town’s code was found on no readable host.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
