Illinois veterans assistance commissions are set up under the Military Veterans Assistance Act (330 ILCS 45); the Illinois entry explains them. Tazewell County's page: "The commission provides aid to those indigent veterans and their families residing in Tazewell County, who may qualify for assistance." New rules. The commission adopted a Guide of Services and Eligibility Standards and gave 90 days' notice on September 1, 2026: "Beginning on 1 December 2026, all requests for emergency financial assistance will be evaluated under the provisions of the newly adopted Guide." Under it, emergency assistance is "one-time financial assistance every 12 months"; "The TCVAC EVA standard of need is 50% above the Federal Poverty guideline"; food gift certificates go up to $200 and hygiene up to $75; "Rental and mortgage payments will not exceed $3000 in annual payments"; utilities up to $1,000 a year, water $400 and wastewater $200, each only after a recent payment and a 20% good-faith effort, with no deposits or reconnection fees. Burial.
