Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The rules are the State's; the Florida entry on discharge recording explains them. The Suwannee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, Barry A. Baker, is the county recorder. Recording. The Official Records page lists "Military Discharges" among the documents recorded there, and the Clerk's "where do I get it" list sends "DD-214 military records - Recorded" to the Clerk and "DD-214 military records - Unrecorded" to the National Personnel Records Center. The recording fee sheet prints "$10.00 ... for the first page and $8.50 ... for each additional page", $1.00 a page for copies and $2.00 to certify, with no discharge carve-out; section 28.222(3)(d) makes recording a discharge free to the veteran regardless, so cite it at the counter. Recording: (386) 362-0521; Suwannee County Courthouse, 200 South Ohio Avenue, Live Oak, FL 32064. Keeping it offline. The Clerk's public notices tell any person of the right to have "an image or copy of a public record, including an official record, if that image or copy is of a military discharge" removed from a publicly available website under section 28.2221. "Requests must be notarized, state the statutory basis for removal, and confirm the individual's eligibility for the exemption", by mail or in person at 200 South Ohio Avenue or through suwanneecountyfl.nextrequest.com.
