Suffield Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Suffield’s assessor prints the veterans’ exemption as at least $3,000 for veterans and active duty military, an income-regulated additional state exemption applied for by October 1, the 12-81(83) dwelling exemption applied for annually by January 1, and a specially equipped vehicle at full value.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Suffield.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s exemptions page prints a veterans exemption “available to veterans and active duty military” of “at least $3,000”, an additional state exemption that is income-regulated with proof of income required, available by application through October 1 in the assessor’s office, and a 100 percent permanent and totally disabled veterans exemption of “a fractional share of dwelling as allowed by CGS 12-81(83)”, or one motor vehicle if the veteran owns no home, with an annual application and proof by January 1. A specially equipped vehicle is listed as exempted “equal to total value”. The wartime exemption itself is $1,000 of assessed value under C.G.S. 12-81(19) - Suffield’s “at least $3,000” carries the revaluation increases of 12-62g, the town’s last revaluation being October 1, 2023. Suffield answered OLR’s 2023 survey and recorded no municipal option of any kind, so the equipped-vehicle line is the one the page itself carries; the town’s code is on eCode360 (SU3766), which stayed behind its Cloudflare challenge (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 168). The page’s income limits are not printed for the veterans’ lines; ask the assessor.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
