Stearns County Sheriff: $50 Permit to Carry for Military Veterans

Stearns County's 2026 fee schedule charges military veterans $50 for a new or renewed permit to carry from the Sheriff's Office, against $100 new and $75 renewal for others; apply at the Sheriff's Office, 807 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud, 320-259-3810.

This is the county's own fee. The State sets the permit rules and caps the sheriff's fee (section 624.714); the county sets its schedule below the cap. The 2026 Official County Fee Schedule, which the Board of Commissioners adopted on September 9, 2025 with effect from January 1, 2026, lists: "Conceal and Carry Permit $100.00; Conceal and Carry Permit-Military Veterans $50.00; Renewal Conceal and Carry Permit $75.00; Renewal Conceal and Carry Permit - Military Veterans $50.00"; a duplicate permit is $10. How. Apply at the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, 807 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud, 320-259-3810, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the State's application and proof of approved pistol training; bring a DD-214 or other proof of service to claim the veterans rate. The Sheriff's web page does not repeat the veteran rate, so confirm it when applying.
