Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

What the fund holds. Fund 1900, Veterans' Aid, levies no tax and lives on its balance, $13,384.73, which has not moved: the 2026-2027 budget documents show it at the start of 2024-2025, 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 alike. Each year the whole balance is budgeted as emergency relief, and each year the actual spending is $0.00 (2024-2025 and 2025-2026); the 2026-2027 hearing notice budgets $13,384.73 again, with no tax requested. How to apply. The county posts no aid page or application; apply through the Veterans Service Office, (402) 439-2196, now open full time (see that entry). Who qualifies. Section 80-102 lets the county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need. Since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county; there is no wartime test. See the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion and the State's own aid fund.
