Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Recording. The Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller records a DD-214 in the Official Records free and year-round, as section 28.222(3)(d) requires (see the Florida entry), so a certified copy is always available if the original is lost; the Clerk says recorded DD-214s stay confidential for 62 years after separation. A November 2024 notice described free DD-214 recording as a November-only fee waiver; it is free in every month. Salute to Service. A veteran who records a DD-214 can have a photo taken and receive a free Salute to Service ID card, mailed within two business days, which serves as local verification of service. Participating restaurants, shops, service providers and attractions give cardholders discounts and offers; the Clerk publishes the list and adds offers weekly. The programme sets no discharge or rating test beyond recording the DD-214. Where. Photos Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center, 4010 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine 32084, no appointment needed; recording appointments are also taken at the Julington Creek Annex (725 Flora Branch Boulevard) and the Ponte Vedra Beach Annex (151 Sawgrass Corners Drive).
