For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Section 505.040 of the County Code, as amended by Ordinance 18-088 in 2018, waives the County's permit and inspection fees for primary residence construction, "including construction of a new primary residence structure or retrofitting, modifying, repairing or otherwise altering an existing primary residence structure when the materials and labor are donated to a member of the USA military or to a first responder, disabled in the line of duty". The Director of the Division of Building and Code Enforcement grants the permits and inspections without the fees. What it covers. Only County building permit and inspection fees in unincorporated St. Charles County, and only for work whose materials and labor are donated, such as a home built by a charity for a wounded service member. A city inside the county sets its own permit fees. The section does not define "disabled in the line of duty" or say what proof the Division wants; a VA rating letter or a military line-of-duty determination is the natural evidence.
