Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Spokane Transit Authority, the public transportation benefit area serving Spokane and the surrounding county, runs five reduced and zero fare programmes. Its Stars & Stripes Reduced Fare "provides a 50% fare discount to active-duty military personnel and veterans". In 2026 the standard fare is $2.00 and the reduced fare $1.00, and fare capping on the Connect card stops charging after the day's cap. Proof. Apply online or at the Customer Service counter at STA Plaza with a photo ID, a portrait photo for the card, and one of: an active-duty military ID; a VA Veteran Health Identification Card or Veteran ID Card; a DD-214 with the Social Security number covered; or a state ID or driver's licence with the veteran designation. No rating, discharge type or minimum service is stated. An approved applicant gets a Reduced Fare Connect card by mail, or on the spot at STA Plaza. A veteran 60 or older or with a disability may instead qualify for STA's Honored Rider fare, which is also half fare.
