The Ambassador for Peace Medal is a commemorative medal from Korea's Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, presented through the Korean consulates as an expression of appreciation to U.S. veterans who served in Korea during the Korean War. Who is eligible. Veterans who served during the Korean War, June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953, and veterans who took part in UN peacekeeping operations until the end of 1955. For the dead. The medal may be awarded posthumously, and a spouse or descendant may apply on the veteran's behalf. The New York consulate's notice says the highest priority goes to living veterans in the United States. How to apply. Send the application form with a copy of the DD214 to the Korean Consulate General for the area where the veteran lives. The consulates' notices say the DD214 should show the Korean Service Medal, the Korean War Service Medal or the United Nations Service Medal.
