Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of South Hadley grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessors’ slide presentation of the town’s local-option exemptions, posted in April 2026, sets out the veterans’ clauses at the statutory amounts: $400.00 under each of clauses 22a to 22c, $750.00 under 22A, $1,250.00 under 22B, $1,500.00 under 22C and $1,000.00 under 22E, with the full amount under 22D and 22F, and gives no date adopted for any of them. No clause 22I or 22J vote was found on the town’s site or in its records. The town’s site serves from southhadley.org, where southhadleyma.gov resets connections. The presentation’s filing deadline is April 1, and its residence test asks for six months’ Massachusetts domicile before entering the service or five consecutive years, two years beginning in fiscal 2020; the statute now asks two consecutive years before filing. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through South Hadley Veterans’ Services: Chris Plotniak. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
