Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Superior Court of Solano County started its Veterans Treatment Court on September 24, 2014. It is for Solano County residents who are veterans with a criminal case under Penal Code section 1170.9, a qualifying diagnosis from trauma in service, and eligibility for probation; see the California entry. Referral. A case can be referred from its home court before a plea, after a plea, or on a probation violation. The VA Veterans Justice Outreach specialist verifies military status, and the court's referral packet, which also serves for military diversion under Penal Code section 1001.80, goes to the senior case manager with both releases of information (VA health care and court). The court's form MIL-100 notifies it of a defendant's military, veteran, reserve or active status. Calendars. Fairfield: Department 25, Law and Justice Center, 530 Union Avenue, courtroom 207, first and third Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Vallejo: Department 2, Solano Justice Building, 321 Tuolumne Street, second Thursday at 1:30 p.m. (third Thursday in July and August, first in November). The residence requirement is the court's own; the statutes apply in any California court, so a non-resident charged in Solano can still ask for diversion or 1170.9 treatment.
