Solano County Free Peddler's License for Veterans

Solano County issues its peddler's business license free to a veteran with an honorable discharge or a release under honorable conditions who sells goods the veteran owns, as Business and Professions Code 16102 requires.

Also called: peddler, business license, vendor, 14-15, 16102, free license.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Solano County Code section 14-15 carries out Business and Professions Code section 16102 for the unincorporated county: any member of the armed forces who received an honorable discharge or a release from active duty under honorable conditions gets, on application and meeting the code's other requirements, a peddler's licence at no cost to peddle and sell goods, wares or merchandise the veteran owns. Alcohol is excluded. The business licensing officer decides eligibility. Unlike some county codes, Solano's matches the State statute's test, with no disability or war-service condition. A business selling goods the veteran does not own needs an ordinary licence under this section, but a veteran who is the sole proprietor of any business, services included, owes no local business license fee under section 16001.8 (since 2020). See the California entry for that and the State's separate exemption in section 16001.7.
