Sharp County (Arkansas) Collector: Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption

The Sharp County Collector, Michelle Daggett, at the courthouse, 718 Ash Flat Drive, Ash Flat ((870) 994-7334), takes the State's disabled veteran exemption on the home and personal property; her pages say nothing about it, and since Act 876 of 2025 the VA letter is a one-time filing.

Also called: property tax, collector, DAV exemption, 26-3-306, homestead, personal property, Act 876, VA letter, Michelle Daggett, 870-994-7334, Ash Flat, Cherokee Village, Hardy, Highland, Evening Shade, Sidney, Williford, Cave City, Horseshoe Bend.

For: Veteran or service member, child, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under section 26-3-306, as the Arkansas entry on the disabled veteran property tax exemption explains: no tax on the home, its land and personal property for a veteran VA rates 100% permanent and total or pays special monthly compensation for the loss or loss of use of a limb or blindness, carried on by an unremarried surviving spouse and minor children. Act 876 of 2025 added to section 26-3-306(b) that the VA letter "is required to be submitted only one (1) time" and that "annual submission of a letter from the department is not required", from the 2025 assessment year, so long as you tell the collector if you stop qualifying or move. File again for a new home. The county's pages. The Collector's page and the Resources page say the office collects real estate and personal property taxes, due by October 15 each year, payable online, by mail or at the courthouse, but say nothing about the disabled veteran exemption; neither does the Assessor's (Kathy Nix, (870) 994-7327), which lists the homestead tax credit. Ask the Collector's office, or have the Veterans Service Office ((870) 994-2408) help with the VA letter. The office.
