Seymour Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Seymour’s assessor names the veteran’s exemptions among the office’s programs without printing amounts; OLR’s survey recorded a $10,000 local option at the town’s own income limits and the equipped vehicle.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Seymour.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s office page lists “Veteran’s exemptions” among its property exemption programs but prints no amounts, and Seymour’s Municode entry publishes no code. The wartime exemption itself is $1,000 of assessed value under C.G.S. 12-81(19). Seymour answered OLR’s 2023 survey recording a $10,000 additional exemption for wartime veterans and 30-year retirees with income limits of $59,100 married and $50,300 single - the town’s own, above the state’s - and the specially equipped motor vehicle option. Ask the assessor for the current amounts. The town’s former seymourct.com is now a domain-for-sale page and its site is www.seymourct.org.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
