Seneca County Board of Commissioners: the Veterans Services Budget Hearing and the 2026 Commission Appointment
The Seneca County Board of Commissioners (Anthony Paradiso, Bill Frankart, Brent Busdeker; County Administrator Barb Patterson) carried the veterans year in the October 2, 2025 budget hearing for Veterans Services and the October 6, 2026 Veteran's Commission appointment, with the Commission's own dollars-and-routes accounts in the county's post-meeting releases; no benefit was adopted, narrowed or repealed.
Also called: Board of Commissioners, Anthony Paradiso, Bill Frankart, Brent Busdeker, Barb Patterson, budget hearing, Veterans Services, Veteran’s Commission, appointment, Tiffin, Seneca County Justice Center, Tiffin, Fostoria, Bellevue, Republic, Bloomville, Attica, Bettsville, Green Springs, New Riegel.
The record. The Commissioners' agendas are born-digital PDFs on the county's site; the window's fifty-nine agendas (October 2025 through October 2026) were downloaded and read whole. Written minutes are not posted for most meetings - the county's Past Meetings page points at "MINUTES (video)", the meetings' video record - so the record rests on the agendas and the county's post-meeting releases. The Board meets Tuesdays (and some Thursdays) at 10:00 a.m.; the 2026 directory lists Commissioners Anthony Paradiso (term to January 1, 2029), Bill Frankart (to December 31, 2026) and Brent Busdeker (to January 2, 2029), County Administrator Barb Patterson and Assistant Administrator/Clerk Cheyanne Heyman.
The veteran items, in order:
- October 2, 2025 (agenda): "10:00 - Budget Hearing: Veterans Services" - the Commission's FY2026 budget heard in open session.
- October 6, 2026 (agenda): "APPOINTMENT - Veteran's Commission" - a scheduled appointment to the Veterans Service Commission (the five-member board Judge of Common Pleas appoints; the appointee's name is carried by the meeting's video record).
The Commission's own accounts, in the county's releases: the October 3, 2024 meeting carried Director Tara Balliet and commission members presenting the Commission's budget - "Balliet said the commission brings in $57 of Veterans Affairs (VA) money for every $1 of county money that is spent" - with the Findlay VA clinic transportation news and board member Ken Stahl's Seneca County Honor Bus account ("which will take local veterans to Washington, D.C., on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1. A homecoming celebration will be hosted on their return on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3"), and board member David Young's "Tiffin University program that offers free guitar lessons for local veterans." The November 30, 2023 release carried the earlier figures: "Over $700,000 was allotted to the commission for 2023, and about $530,000 was spent."
The Veteran of the Year. The Commission's own site names the 2026 honoree: "Daniel Steele. Dan 'Boone' Steele, of Bettsville, has been selected as the Seneca County Veteran of the Year 2026. On November 11, 2026, at the American Legion Post 733, in Bettsville, there will be a social hour starting at 5:00 pm, and a dinner will be served at 6:00 pm, then a short program will follow to honor Dan." The site also records "Henry Stobbs presented David Young with the SAR War Service Medal at the Veterans Service Commission meeting held on September 14, 2026."
No veteran benefit was adopted, narrowed or repealed; the year is the Commission's budget and appointments. The county's PIVOT Recovery Program is a drug-recovery docket, not a veterans court (see the header).
