Seneca County Auditor: the Disabled Veteran’s Homestead Exemption
The Seneca County Auditor (Julie A. Adkins, 109 S. Washington Street, Suite 2206, Tiffin, 419-447-0692) takes the homestead applications under Revised Code 323.151 and 323.152 - “Disabled veterans are not subject to income limits and may qualify for a larger exemption amount” - the DTE 105I for the 100 percent or TDIU veteran, the DTE 105A with the DTE 105E for the standard disability route.
Also called: homestead exemption, DTE 105A, DTE 105E, DTE 105H, DTE 105I, HB 85, disabled veteran, 100% disabled, TDIU, individual unemployability, Julie Adkins, Auditor, income test, Tiffin, Tiffin, Fostoria, Bellevue, Republic, Bloomville, Attica, Bettsville, Green Springs, New Riegel.
The county's own page. The Auditor's Homestead Exemption page: "Seneca County Auditor Julie A. Adkins reminds eligible homeowners to take advantage of the Homestead Exemption for real estate taxes. Homeowners who turn 65 years of age or older during calendar year 2025, or who are totally and permanently disabled, must file an application by December 31, 2025 to receive the exemption on their 2026 real estate tax bill. To qualify, new applicants must have a total Ohio Adjusted Gross household income of $40,000 or less on their 2024 Ohio income tax return, with an exception for disabled veterans." The veteran's paragraph: "Disabled veterans are not subject to income limits and may qualify for a larger exemption amount. Veterans with 'total service-connected disabilities,' including those receiving compensation at the 100% level due to individual unemployability caused by service-connected disabilities, as well as their surviving spouses, may be eligible. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact the Seneca County Auditor's Office to determine eligibility."
The forms. The Auditor's forms page lists the route: "DTE Form 105A - Homestead Exemption Application for Senior Citizens Disabled Persons and Surviving Spouses; DTE Form 105E - Certificate of Disability for the Homestead Exemption; DTE Form 105H - Addendum ...; DTE Form 105I - Homestead Exemption Application for Disabled Veterans and Surviving Spouses." The 105I's own instruction: the applicant "must be 100% disabled by or be receiving 100% compensation for service-connected injuries on January 1 of the year for which the exemption is sought," files with the county auditor on or before December 31, and "You will need to provide a copy of your Department of Defense Form 214 (DD214)." The Auditor's hosted qualifications sheet runs the same: the exemption "provides qualified disabled veterans, or a surviving spouse, a reduction in property taxes on the dwelling that is that individual's principal place of residence and up to one acre of land," "equal to the taxes that would otherwise be charged on up to $50,000 of the market value."

100% service-connected or TDIU as VA finds it
