Navarre Beach Fishing Pier: Free Admission for Disabled Veterans

Santa Rosa County's Navarre Beach Fishing Pier admits disabled veterans free. Active duty members pay the senior rates: $6 a day to fish instead of $7, $40 a week and $100 a year. Other veterans pay the ordinary rates.

Also called: Navarre Beach, fishing pier, pier admission, free admission, disabled veteran, active duty discount, 125.029.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The County's pier admission page says "Admission for disabled veterans and mobility and visually impaired is free." The fishing licence is included in admission. Rates for everyone else. Fishing: adults $7 a day, seniors and active duty military $6, youth $4, under 6 free. Walking: $1. Weekly fishing passes: $45, or $40 for seniors and active duty military. Annual fishing passes: $150, or $100 for seniors (65 and over) and active duty military; family $300; walking $60. Passes are sold at the pier store. What the page does not say. It does not define a disabled veteran or say what proof the pier store accepts; bring a VA letter showing a service-connected rating or a Florida disabled veteran licence or ID. Section 125.029 requires county park departments to discount park entrance fees for members, honorably discharged veterans and disabled veterans (see the Florida entry), but a fishing pier's fee may be an amenity fee outside it, and the pier gives other veterans no discount.
