Sandoval County Assessor: Veteran and Disabled Veteran Exemptions
The Sandoval County Assessor lists two routes: the 100% disabled veteran's full exemption from property tax on the primary residence (7-37-5.1), which follows a move to a new residence, and the veteran exemption, which its page still gives as $4,000 though it has been $10,000 since 2025, against taxable value or motor vehicle tax; its NMDVS representative in Room 2041 answers eligibility questions.
Also called: property tax, veteran exemption, 7-37-5, 7-37-5.1, 100% disabled, NMDVS, Bernalillo, Rio Rancho.
For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Thresholds
| Gate | Rule |
|---|---|
| Disabled veteran exemption, proportional to the rating | From tax year 2026, under 7-37-5.1, the share of the home's taxable value exempt equals the service-connected rating, after the $10,000 veteran exemption; Sandoval states only the 100% route, as a full exemption. |
| Basic veteran exemption without a rating | The 7-37-5 exemption of $10,000 of taxable value (since 2025) needs qualifying service and a discharge, not a rating. The rating filter cannot test this path. |
