San Patricio County's page: "The purpose of the San Patricio County Veterans Services Office is to assist Veterans and their survivors deal with the often confusing and overwhelming task of filing claims for federal benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Our Veteran Service Officers are credentialed through the Texas Veterans Commission and attend mandatory training events to stay informed on continually changing laws and regulations pertaining to Veterans."
What it does. Compensation and pension claims, survivor benefits, burial benefits, debt waivers, requests for military service documents and for correction of military records, and information on VA education, health care and home loans and the Texas Veterans Land Board. Each November the office runs a Veterans Day outreach week across the county, taking claims and VA health enrolment to the towns, and it also runs the county's emergency financial assistance grant (see the San Patricio County veterans assistance entry). The Commissioners Court's minutes name Rudy Guzman as the Veteran County Service Officer and Jennifer Richardson as a Veterans Service Officer.
