San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation issues a Disabled Veteran/Prisoner of War Annual Pass free of charge. It covers day use and parking for one vehicle at any San Joaquin County regional park, any day including holidays, for up to three years from issue, and renews without re-certification once VA confirms the status again. Others pay $100 for a one-year day-use pass, or $5 to $10 a visit. Who qualifies. A California resident veteran who provides a VA certificate that the veteran was honorably discharged and has a service-connected disability rated 50% or more, or VA or service records showing prisoner of war status and an honorable discharge, plus a California driver licence or ID card. The parks page calls the pass one for "qualified war veterans", but the application sets no war-service test. The county's Veterans Services office approves each application. Limits. It does not cover facility reservations, camping, a second vehicle, Micke Grove Zoo, museums or other supplemental fees. Submit the form, which cannot be filed online, by mail or in person at the Parks Office, 11793 North Micke Grove Road, Lodi (209-953-8800). Certification papers are kept, not returned.
