Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

San Diego County Regulatory Code section 91.1.109.5.20, readopted most recently by Ordinance 10982 effective April 3, 2026, waives the plan check and building permit fees for accessibility modifications made to the homes of disabled veterans, notwithstanding the fee schedule in Administrative Code section 362.1. The County Fire Authority waives its plan check and inspection fees for the same work. The section does not define a disabled veteran or name a rating; ask Planning and Development Services what proof it takes, and bring the VA letter. The county building code applies in the unincorporated area; the cities issue their own permits.
