Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs is the county veterans service office California counties run under Military and Veterans Code section 970; see the California entry. It helps with VA disability, pension, health care, education, home loan, burial and survivor claims and the CalVet College Fee Waiver. Offices. 222 W. Hospitality Lane, 3rd floor, San Bernardino (909-382-3290), and offices in Hesperia (15900 Smoke Tree Street, 760-995-8010), Rancho Cucamonga, Joshua Tree and Barstow. Service officers are available 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; on Fridays in-person service is by appointment, and Hesperia is open every other Friday. Veteran ID card. The Board of Supervisors approved a county photo ID for "honorably-discharged veterans", issued at the Hesperia, Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino offices with a current ID and the DD-214, so that a veteran can prove status to merchants without carrying discharge papers. A veteran with a general discharge should ask; the county's own wording names only honorable discharges, and the card is not the VETERAN designation on a California driver licence, which the DMV issues.
