Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The officer. San Augustine County's Veteran Services page names "Sherry Riley, Veteran Service Officer", with office hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, at the "Shelby County Veterans Service Office, 100 Austin St., Center, TX 75935", office 936-598-6530, and the county address [email protected]; it links the Texas Veterans Commission and the VA. Shelby County's own page gives her office as 266 Nacogdoches St., Center, at the same number, and sees veterans from 8 to 11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. (see shelby-tx-veterans-services); call before driving to Center. TexVet's county list names her for both counties, with the San Augustine address and 936-288-3091. She files VA and State claims under Government Code chapter 434 (see the Texas entry). What San Augustine pays. The FY2026-27 final budget (October 2026 to September 2027), whose cover dated September 22, 2026 records all four commissioners voting for it, has no veterans department; its non-departmental "Veterans Office Expense" line (10-409-53105) carries nothing for 2026-27, as in each year back to 2023-24. Neither the budget nor any agenda or minutes of 2025 and 2026 shows an agreement with Shelby County or a payment for the officer's time, so how the arrangement is kept is not on the county's record; ask the County Judge's office, 936-275-2762.
