Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The fund. Saline County's filed 2025-2026 budget carries fund 1900, Veteran's Aid, with one line, "Med & Hospital-Client Service": $0.00 spent in 2023-2024, $3,341.00 budgeted and $0.00 spent in 2024-2025, and $3,343.00 adopted for 2025-2026. No 2026-2027 budget is posted. The county's veterans page names no county aid, so ask the Veterans Service Office, 402-821-2990, about the fund by name. Who qualifies. Section 80-102 lets the county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need, for more than medical bills. Since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county; there is no wartime test. See the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion and the State's own aid fund.
