The Rutherford County Veterans Office is the county veteran service office under 58-3-109. It helps veterans, their spouses and surviving family members secure federal, state and county benefits, at no cost. Dominick Grimaldi, MSSW, an Army veteran who joined in 2015, is the veterans service officer; he also sits on the county's Veterans Treatment Court team. Where. 439 Rice Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37130, behind the Rutherford County Archives building; Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Phone (615) 849-5711, fax (615) 713-3420. The office publishes a veteran resource guide. Where the office's benefit list is wrong. Its summary of state benefits says veterans with 30 percent or more war service-connected disability get free hunting and fishing licences "after an initial one-time fee of $10". The two are separate: a resident 30 percent or more disabled from war service pays nothing, and it is the veteran rated 100 percent permanent and total who pays $10 once for a permanent licence; see the Tennessee entry on the disabled veteran hunting and fishing licence. It gives property tax relief only "for 100% permanently and totally disabled veterans", leaving out the paraplegia, blindness, loss-of-limbs and prisoner of war routes, and the wheel tax exemption only "for 100% disabled veterans", leaving out former prisoners of war and the adapted-vehicle route. And it lists free plates for "100% service connected disabled veterans, Ex-POW's, and recipients of MOH, DSC, NC or AFC", where the disabled veteran plate also goes to a veteran compensated for loss or loss of use of a hand or foot or for prescribed vision loss, at any rating. The Tennessee entries set out each rule.
