The county complex the office sits in is provided and maintained by the Russell County Commission, which remodeled the VA annex in 2026 "to provide better access for veterans" (Commissioner Costello, April 8, 2026 meeting). The office processes compensation and pension applications, appeals, survivors' death benefits, aid and attendance and housebound claims, claim-document certification, military records requests, discharge upgrades and special veteran license plates, at no charge. The county's own observances around it: the 3rd Annual Ft. Mitchell Veterans Mental Health Walk met May 30, 2026, 8 a.m., at the Ft. Mitchell Senior Center, 540 AL-165, Fort Mitchell, and the Seale Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony is held at the Russell County Veterans Memorial in Seale (November 11, 2026, 10 a.m. ET). The Commission's November 11, 2026 meeting is cancelled because it falls on Veterans Day, and the county buildings close for the holiday.
