Roxbury Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Roxbury’s assessor page describes an income-based additional exemption “provided by the Connecticut State Statute CGS § 12-81f” that OLR’s survey recorded the town as not offering, and its own ordinance book enacts no veterans’ option.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Roxbury.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor page’s filing deadlines give the Additional Veteran’s Exemption and the Blind and Veteran’s Exemption each an October 1 deadline, the Disabled Exemption one before the January grand-list filing, and motor vehicles for members of the armed forces a December 31 one. Its veterans section requires the DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk before October 1 with service in an eligible war period, and accepts veterans receiving a disability through the Veterans Administration who have filed a DD-214 whether or not they served in an eligible period; disabled veterans file a letter from the Administration showing the rate of disability, a one-time filing unless the rate changes. The page also carries the OTH-discharge route of P.A. 18-47 and Form D-2, the OPM application for the exemption of 12-81(83). The page’s Additional Veteran’s Exemption section says a veteran receiving the exemption “may qualify” for an additional one “provided by the Connecticut State Statute CGS § 12-81f,” income-based, filed February 1 through October 1. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Roxbury as offering no municipal option, and the town’s own ordinance book, a republication in the DocumentCenter whose taxation chapter carries tax payments and a medical-transport vehicle exemption only, enacts none; whether Roxbury offers a 12-81f exemption is for the assessor to say. No amount is printed for any veterans’ exemption: the wartime exemption is $1,000 of assessed value under 12-81(19), with the 12-81g(a) additional exemption of twice that for income within the 12-81l limit. No Roxbury code was found on a readable host beyond the town’s own ordinance book; ask the assessor.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
