What the Board heard. In March 2026 the director told the Board that the office files claims, that he handles complex cases, appeals and higher-level reviews himself, and that "Cases he disagrees with are referred to their partner law office, preventing veterans from being left without help"; staff also share discounts and community resources, and the office holds power of attorney for about two-thirds of the roughly 3,300 county veterans receiving PACT Act compensation.
