Rockport Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Rockport’s own Summary of Tax Exemption Programs prints the veterans’ statutes, so this entry gives the statute’s; its veterans’ services are the Cape Ann Veterans District’s, the Gloucester Veterans’ Agency’s Vionette Chipperini directing from Gloucester, as the town’s page has said since 2023.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Rockport.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Rockport grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessors Department page names the elected board "Chairman Timothy W Good IV, Amy Beaton, Wilhelmina Sheedy, and the Principal Assessor Elizabeth A Dukes" (978-546-2011, [email protected]), meeting the second Tuesday of each month at the Town Office Building, 34 Broadway, and prints the fiscal 2026 tax rate of $8.46 per thousand. The department’s Exemptions page posts the town’s "Summary of Tax Exemption Programs": $400 under clause 22 for a 10 per cent service-related disability or a Purple Heart recipient, $750 under 22A, $1,250 under 22B, $1,500 under 22C, full for five years then $2,500 under 22D, $1,000 under 22E and full for paraplegics, each with no income or asset limit, beside 17D at $175 and 41C at $500 - the statutes. Its covering letters for the 22A-F and 22E applications put the fiscal 2027 deadline at April 1, 2027, and the veterans’ application is the Commonwealth’s Form 96-4; no acceptance of clause 22I or 22J was found on the site, so the figures here are the statute’s. The Veterans’ Agent page says "Rockport’s Veterans’ services are, as of summer 2023, being administered by the Gloucester Veterans’ Agency located at 12 Emerson Avenue, Gloucester", Vionette Chipperini the Director of Veterans’ Service (978-325-5730), mailing address 9 Dale Avenue, and that "The Veterans’ Agent reports to the Cape Ann Veterans District Board of Directors which is comprised of a representative of the three communities served by the district which are Gloucester, Rockport, and Manchester-by-the-Sea" - the agency the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 Rockport row lists on 9 Dale Avenue ([email protected]), Gloucester’s own entry recording the same agency as the city’s. The page’s helpful-resources list notes a Friday veteran networking group whose resources include a VFW service officer for claims. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Rockport Veterans’ Agent: Cape Ann Veterans District, Gloucester Veterans’ Agency, Vionette Chipperini, Director of Veterans’ Service. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relativeClause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
