Rockdale County's Senior Services runs a Veteran Transportation Program in a dedicated van, the "Eagle", taking honorably discharged Rockdale veterans of any age, with a caregiver if needed, to the Decatur VA hospital and the Stockbridge and Covington VA clinics, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; register first with the transportation manager (770-278-7284 or 770-278-7230). Federal money is buying a second dedicated van ($165,200).

Rockdale County Senior Services lists "Veterans Transportation" among its transport services, beside trips to the senior centre, medical appointments and social service agencies: "For Transportation Voucher and Veterans Transportation contact the Transportation manager at 770-278-7230."
What is coming. The county's news release on federal community project funding lists "Rockdale Veterans Transportation Program Vehicle Acquisition - $165,200": "The Veterans Transportation Program will acquire an additional dedicated vehicle to ensure veterans can access medical appointments and critical services." The Chair told the Board in February 2026 that the second veterans' van had been funded.
The Eagle. The county's release on the programme's return: it "assists honorably discharged Rockdale County veterans of any age with trips to the Veterans Hospital in Decatur and the VA clinics in Stockbridge and Covington." Veterans "may be picked up for the trip at either their home, the Veterans Affairs office, or at Rockdale Senior Services", and the programme "offers additional personnel to assist the veteran in and out of their appointments along with open spots for caregivers". "Veterans must register for the transportation program before scheduling medical appointments. Transportation hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m." The release is undated.

Register and book with the Senior Services transportation manager: the release gives 770-278-7284 and the Senior Services page 770-278-7230; medical trips through Senior Services are arranged three days ahead and depend on staff and vans.
