Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Riley County's site lists no veterans department among its offices, and the Kansas Judicial Branch's Specialty Courts list gives Riley County, in the 21st Judicial District, an adult drug treatment court and assisted outpatient treatment but no veterans treatment court; a veteran whose problem is addiction can ask counsel about the drug court. The county's veterans memorial is a place, not a programme: the Riley County Armed Forces Memorial sits on the courthouse patio, where the county notes veterans and loved ones are honored. What a Riley County veteran can act on is the state's own service: the Kansas Office of Veterans Services employs Veteran Service Representatives, accredited by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and certified annually, available at no cost; Manhattan is a published field-office city of the Western Kansas Region, and appointments are scheduled with the local Veteran Service Representative. The office asks veterans to bring the DD 214, marriage and birth certificates, medical records and the other documents on its checklist. KOVS's main line is (785) 296-3976. Fort Riley's own soldier and family services are federal and outside the county's administration.
