Ridgefield Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Ridgefield’s assessor page prints no veterans’ amounts. OLR’s 2023 survey records a $10,000 local wartime additional exemption at Ridgefield’s own income limits of $50,000 and $45,000, the 12-81g(b) option, and the 12-81kk primary-residence exemption.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Ridgefield.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s page describes the office’s work and its elderly programs and prints no veterans’ amounts; it invites questions about tax exemptions by phone. The wartime exemption is $1,000 of assessed value under C.G.S. 12-81(19), with the 12-81g(a) additional exemption of twice that for income under the 12-81l limit. OLR’s 2023 survey records Ridgefield among the towns offering the 12-81f(a) wartime additional exemption, at $10,000, with income limits of $50,000 married and $45,000 single - a limit of the town’s own, above OPM’s state amount; the 12-81f(b) higher amount for veterans and 30-year retirees; the 12-81g(b) option, three times the 12-81(20) exemption for a veteran rated 100 percent with income of $21,000 single or $24,000 married; and the 12-81kk primary-residence exemption, 10 percent of the assessed value of the dwelling of a veteran with federal adjusted gross income of $50,100 or less. OLR notes it could not verify every answer; the town’s code is on eCode360 (RI2176), which stayed behind its Cloudflare challenge (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 168), so no adoption could be read. Ask the assessor.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
