Revere Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Revere prints $423 under clause 22 and $1,057 under 22E, the statute raised by both years’ cost-of-living adjustments, and records an optional additional exemption of up to 100 per cent from the second year a taxpayer receives one; a paraplegic veteran is fully exempt, and the city runs a veterans’ work-off worth up to $1,000.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The City of Revere grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a city can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessing Department’s breakdown of the exemptions the city offers gives $423 under clause 22 for a veteran rated 10 to 99 percent, $1,057 under 22E for a 100 percent rating, a full exemption under 22D for the surviving spouse and under 22F for a paraplegic veteran, and a full exemption under 22H for surviving parents. $423 and $1,057 are the statute’s $400 and $1,000 raised by the Department of Revenue’s clause 22I adjustments for fiscal 2026 and 2027 (2.9 and 2.7 percent), as Boston’s $423 is; the page names no clause, and no council vote was found in the city’s online records. The same page records that “the city has adopted an optional additional exemption”, set at up to 100 percent of the personal exemption amount in the second and subsequent years a taxpayer receives an exemption, subject to the statute’s two limits: the bill cannot fall below the prior year’s tax or below the tax on 10 percent of the domicile’s full value. The city also runs a veterans’ work-off: five Revere residents work up to 66.6 hours a year for the Veterans Service Office for up to $1,000 off the tax bill, under an ordinance the City Council approved in May 2025. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Revere Veterans Service Office. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relativeClause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
