Rehoboth Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Rehoboth’s assessors’ page prints no clause amounts and its site answers a Cloudflare challenge, so this entry gives the statute’s, read through the Internet Archive’s captures; the town’s own exemptions link page has no capture, its site serving an Incapsula block to the Archive.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Rehoboth.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Rehoboth grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. www.rehobothma.gov answers a Cloudflare challenge that does not clear to curl or to the automated browser, and the rehobothma.gov apex does not resolve (issue #206), so the Assessors and Veteran Services pages were read through the Internet Archive’s captures of February 6, 2025 and February 24, 2024. The Assessors page names Susan Taylor the board’s chairman, Riccardo Binetti its secretary and Stephen Green a member, with Paul Costa the Administrative Assessor at 340 Anawan Street (508-252-3352), and prints no clause amount, so the figures here are the statute’s. The page gives the qualifying date for any exemption, senior, surviving spouse, blind and veterans, as July 1 and the deadline to return the application as April 1. The board’s Property Tax Exemptions and Deferrals link page has no capture: the Archive’s crawls of it record the site’s Incapsula block. The Veteran Services page gives the office at 27 Francis Farm Road (508-252-4467), describes the chapter 115 program and a town veterans van, and asks callers to e-mail Jake at [email protected], where the EOVS directory names the officer Jake Kramer with the same phone. The page names American Legion Post 302, which meets on Bay State Road at Redway Plain, as the post the office works with on patriotic events. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Rehoboth Veteran Services: Jake Kramer, Veterans’ Agent (EOVS directory). Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

Thresholds

GateRule
A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relativeClause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
